This is a Jumbulance. It has been built, equipped and designated as an ambulance to accommodate travellers with difficulties or disabilities. The interior consists of hospital beds and reclining seats, a kitchenette and easy access WC. February 2012 sees a new Jumbulance arrive.
The Jumbulance Trust
The Jumbulance Trust is a small, national charity which "Makes Travel Possible" for sick, disabled and other disadvantaged individuals, known as VIPs.
The Trust provides the vehicles and drivers at subsidised rates to groups around the UK and Ireland.
The groups provide holidays and pilgrimages that VIPs could never entertain without significant physical and medical assistance.
Jumbulance 2003
Who can go on a Jumbulance holiday?
Our group, founded in 2003, organises self-funded trips for VIPs mainly from the Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire areas. During the past nine years we have travelled within the UK and overseas to Germany, Ireland, Italy and France.
We currently have three volunteer group leaders - David Lumsden, Chris Chisholm and David Shillibier. We are delighted to welcome Charles Nicholson, who will be leading our pilgrimage to Lourdes.
Each Jumbulance trip has a medical team to suit the profile of the VIPs (including a doctor when necessary and registered nurses) and a group of volunteers who all give up their time to accompany VIPs.
We are always keen to hear from medical professionals, particularly nurses, who would be interested in caring for a VIP on one of our trips. If you would like further information, please email:
